Canadian manufacturers, distributors and wholesalers have experienced consistent growth driven by a strong domestic economy. In addition, retailers, both large and small, are starting to require that all manufacturers and/or distributors carry their own property and liability insurance in order to have their product on the retailers’ shelves. One of the challenges, and also prominent characteristics of the Canadian manufacturing industry is its relationship with the U.S. as a key trading partner. This leads to a requirement of coverage for U.S. product exposures and physical locations, such as U.S. based sales and support offices.

Manufacturers
- Commercial general liability limits up to $5,000,000 (for higher limits, please submit your request by email)
- Defence costs in addition to policy limits
- First-dollar defence
- Worldwide claims coverage, with duty to defend in Canada and the United States
- Extensions include libel and slander, breach of copyright and breach of warranty of authority
- $50,000 disciplinary proceeding reimbursement

Wholesalers & Distributors
- Commercial general liability limits up to $5,000,000
- Extensions may include product recall and cyber
Underwriting norms
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
- U.S.A. revenue up to 50% ; higher limits may be referred
- The insured must not have an open claim within the last 3 years
- Relabeling, installation or repair work are not eligible
